Teaching Assistant in Specialist Centre for Deaf Children

 

 
Would you like to be able to make a difference working as a Teaching Assistant in our main school  supporting deaf children in their education? You do not need to be BSL qualified, however an interest in sign language would be beneficial.


The Lighthouse works to support deaf children from age 3 to 11 in a mainstream setting.  We provide a ‘Total Communication’ environment for deaf children who have wide-ranging communication preferences, from first-language BSL users to spoken-language English users.  This is a highly rewarding post for those interested in enabling young deaf children to access language and learning.

ACTUAL SP3 STARTING SALARY FOR CANDIDATES  £12,441 (rising up to £13,608 for LSAs with previous school experience)

ACTUAL SP5 STARTING SALARY FOR CANDIDATES WITH BSL LEVEL 2 QUALIFCATION  £14,659 (rising up to £16,602 for LSAs with previous school experience)

 This is a fixed term contract full/part-time as a job share until 24th July 2019


Hours: 32.5 hours per week
[Monday-Friday 8.30 am-3.30 pm]
38.6 weeks per year [Term-Time only plus 3 INSET Days]


Please note, the full-time equivalent salary for this post at Salary Range SP3 is currently£16,334-£17,866

Learning Support Assistant (Deafness plus Physical Disability) - BSL Level 1 or 2

Are you currently studying BSL Level 2?

Would you like to be able to make a difference by supporting deaf children in their education? Are you looking for a job where you can develop your signing skills in-post?

This temporary position offers you the opportunity to work in deaf education while also impoving your BSL skills.
