Learning Support Assistant (Deafness plus Physical Disability)
We are looking for a dedicated and resourceful Learning Support Assistant to join us in the Lighthouse Specialist Deaf Centre
The Lighthouse works to support deaf children from age 3 to 11 in a mainstream school setting.
Your work as a learning support assistant would be interesting, varied, sometimes challenging - but often rewarding. All of the children placed with us use Sign Supported English or British Sign Language, so we are looking for someone with good signing skills (qualified to CACDP/Signature Level 2 or an equivalent level of fluency), who is able to interpret mainstream class lessons for the deaf children. You would also need good levels of skill in written and spoken English.
We welcome applications from candidates looking for part-time work and these hours will also be considered as a job share.
To start as soon as possible, the position is fixed term in the first instance until 31st August 2019.
Hours: 32.5 hours per week (Monday- Friday 8.30am-3.30pm)
38.6 weeks per year (Term-Time plus 3 INSET Days)
Salary Range S5: £19,245-£21,796 FTE
ACTUAL SALARY for 32.5 hours: £14,659-£16,602
Closing Date for Applications: 12 Noon on Wednesday 5th December 2018
Interviews: Tuesday 11th December.
All posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS check and references.
Visits are warmly welcomed.
